1. This is who we are
Currently, we have approximately 2,500 employees. Of these, about 840 are registered nurses and about 250 colleagues are working in the medical service. The remaining colleagues ensure that everything runs smoothly.
We have 15 clinics and two institutes for inpatient and day-patient care. For outpatient care, there is our Medical Care Centre (MVZ) with a further 13 practices.
At this time, we have 813 beds. We are a modern acute hospital and, due to our size, we are one of the so-called maximum care providers.
We are a municipal hospital and are therefore not privately owned. Our shareholder is the maritime city of Bremerhaven - specifically the magistrate. Economic stability is very important to us; however, the well-being of our patients is always our top priority. As a non-profit limited company, it is not our aim to generate profits for investors – rather, we invest in our hospital.

Yes, you can do a school internship as well as a compulsory internship as part of your studies or training. If you have your school-leaving certificate in your pocket already, you are also welcome to complete an orientation internship in nursing at our centre.

We provide vocational training in nursing. For this purpose, we operate our own nursing academy. Further information on training in nursing, including training as an operating theatre technician or anaesthetic technician (STA or ATA). In addition, we also train healthcare clerks, office management clerks, medical assistants (MFA) and warehouse logistics specialists. Just check out our current job advertisements. If you decide in favour of us and we decide in favour of you after the interview, it will become concrete: you will receive an Agreement offer from us. As a municipal institution, we need some internal approvals for your employment. For this reason, it can take approximately three weeks until you receive our Agreement offer.

4. Interview and selection process

After greeting everyone present, you will usually have the opportunity to introduce yourself briefly. The next step is finding out how well your education and qualifications match the requirements of the position. Finally, the practical details will be discussed, such as a possible start date and any next steps. Of course, there will also be time for your questions.
In addition to the responsible manager, representatives from the works council and our women's representative will always be present at the first interview.
No, we do not reimburse travel expenses for job interviews.

5. Working time and remuneration
We are a company bound by Collective Agreements. This means that all positions in our hospital are generally remunerated according to the TVöD for the service sector of hospitals to this the area of the Federation of Municipal Employers' Associations (TVöD-K). One exception to this is staff in the medical service, which is paid according to the Collective Agreement for physicians at municipal hospitals in the area of the Federation of Municipal Employers' Associations (TV-Ärzte/ VKA). It is best to inquire during the job interview about the specific grouping of the position for which you are applying. Based on your qualifications and professional experience, you will be assigned to a level within this pay group.
In principle, all our employees receive the number of annual leave days specified in the Collectively Agreement in accordance with the TVöD for the hospital service sector in the area of the Federation of Municipal Employers' Associations (TVöD-K). One exception to this is staff in the medical service, whose leave days are based on the Collective Agreement for physicians at municipal hospitals in the area of the Federation of Municipal Employers' Associations (TV-Ärzte/ VKA). Currently, in both cases there are at least 30 days for full-time employees.
Employees who work for us according to the TVöD for the service sector hospitals in the area of the Federation of Municipal Employers' Associations (TVöD-K) have a 38.5 hour week. The weekly working hours of employees from the medical service are based on the current version of the Collective Agreement for physicians at municipal hospitals in the area of the Federation of Municipal Employers' Associations (TV-Ärzte/ VKA). Currently, this is 40 hours per week.
Yes, whenever the position and department allow it, we generally want to make part-time work possible.
