A profession that has always been important to us.

Commitment to midwifery training has a long tradition in our company: for 30 years, we have trained young people for this important profession at our midwifery school, thus introducing several generations of trainees to this important profession.

In 2020, the starting signal was given for the academisation of midwifery training in Germany. As one of the first academic institutions in Germany, the Bremen University of Applied Sciences offered a corresponding degree programme as early as the winter semester 2020/2021: The "International Midwifery B. Sc." degree programme. Based on our many years of experience, we coordinate the practical placements during the course of study. The actual places are then allocated by the university. Students receive an employment agreement with the cooperating institutions as well as remuneration for the entire course of study.

The programme leads to the academic degree "Bachelor of Science" (B. Sc.) and prepares students for the state examination. Passing this examination grants permission to use the professional title of midwife. You can find the exact content and course of study in the corresponding flyer (only in german language):

Practical assignments for midwifery students naturally also take place at our hospital. With our Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics, midwife-led delivery room, Perinatal Centre Level 2, Neonatology and our Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, we offer students the best conditions for laying a solid foundation for the practical part of their training in our hospital.

Do you think midwifery could be the right profession for you? Take a look at the following video. Catharina Gerdes, midwife and deputy head of our delivery room, gives interesting insights into her daily work:
