With approximately 2,500 colleagues, 813 beds, 15 clinics, 2 institutes and a medical care centre, we are the largest hospital in the Lower Weser region. As a maximum-care municipal hospital, we ensure health care for Bremerhaven and the surrounding area. Every year we treat about 25,000 inpatients and about 3,000 day patients. During the same period, we also treat about 20,000 outpatients. Our Central Emergency Department provides medical care for about 37,000 emergencies every year.

In order to ensure that our medical and nursing teams have the best possible working conditions every day, numerous colleagues from many different areas are committed.

We have been on a steady growth course for a good ten years. Therefore, our Technology and Construction Department always has its hands full. Architects, electricians, painters and many more trades are represented in our house.


The largest team is made up by our housekeeping and supply services. Cooks take care of the physical well-being of our patients and staff on a daily basis. Our cleaning staff takes care of professional cleanliness and hygiene on all wards. In the bed control centre, we organise, disinfect and transport.


There are many opportunities in a large house with a wide variety of tasks - even for people from outside of the field. I appreciate the flexitime and am relatively autonomous in organising my work.

Modern medicine is becoming more and more digitalised. System administrators, IT specialists and application administrators from the Medical and Information Technology Department take care of everything digital and networked in our hospital while ensuring that sensitive data is protected and stored in compliance with the law.
